I live in Michigan. Here, the weather is…eh. Fall is gorgeous, but you honestly don’t know what you are going to get from one day to the next. The weatherman will call for one thing, and about 50% of the time he/she is right. That leaves us “outdoor work-outers” befuddled. It then leaves us reaching for something to do when the weather doesn’t coincide with our plan for the day.
Being the OCD-type person that I am, I always have to have a plan. And when my plan won’t work, a fool-proof back up plan is necessary. When it comes to working out, this situation is still the same for me. I am the type of person that has to work out. Not only for my health, but for my mental health. It’s taken me years to figure this out, but now I know, and now I don’t mess with it. It’s a way of life over here…and thankfully I love working out!
Below are 5 ways you can workout indoors. I need options, so I thought I’d share some with you too!
- Intervals on a treadmill. Just google it. It’s the BEST workout for dropping weight that I know of!
- Grab a great workout DVD, one that pushes you and makes you sweat. I love the Jillian Michaels’ 30-Day Shred ones.
- Class at your local gym. Zumba anyone?
- Elliptical – same, google it or use the setting that is already on your Ellipticals that you have access to or have in your home, like my Smooth Elliptical!
- Do you have stairs in your home? Use them! You can get a complete workout just with these. Oh wow….I’m feeling the burn already between the lunges, squats, tricep dips, calf raises, push ups and flights (to get your cardio in obviously!) 🙂
Don’t let bad weather ruin your work out regimen or don’t let not having a gym membership take away from your health. EMBRACE IT! Do what you can with the many options that you have available to you after thinking outside the box as well as what Smooth Fitness has to offer!!
