At the beginning of the new year, I always find myself planning and purging and so much more! I want LESS stuff clogging up my life and my brain. About now is the time I start unclogging things that come in my life. From unwanted appointments, to people in my Facebook feed to emails in my inbox to stuff laying all around the house. Ahh!! I’m putting together a short, doable list and sharing it with you guys today! I hope it encourages you to do some of these things to give your mind a break, too. Plus, share with me what YOU do – I want to hear!!
- Unsubscribe. Seriously, just do it. Why have all those emails clogging your inbox if 99% of the time, all you do is delete them anyways. Better point yet, I bet you will spend less money if you aren’t constantly being bombarded with “great deals”.
- Write it all down. Set a plan in action. Every night before going to bed, write down your goals for the following day. I bet you will sleep better with less on your brain!
- De-friend. Don’t just hide people, de-friend them. What on earth would you want them in your life if all they are is a negative Nancy? Ok, hide them if you need to because you will feel bad if they find out. But get them out of your life. Same goes with Facebook pages that you aren’t interested in. Unlike those too. Less is MORE people!! Same goes with Twitter, Instagram…and on and on and on.
- Say no. Just do it. If it doesn’t make you feel good. If you are stressing about going, just say no. Put yourself first if you are typically a people pleaser. You will feel SO refreshed (and maybe a little guilty at first). But eventually, you will feel better and at peace!
- Prep more the day before. I don’t know about you, but when the kids are in bed, I just want to lay flat on my back and do NOTHING! I just want to rest and relax. However, before I do that, I have been tackling a few to-do’s for the following day. It gives peace the next day and helps you feel more prepared. And honestly, when I go to sit down, I feel better about sitting down because I know that I was a little productive before that.
What do YOU do to help simplify right now? Are you the same as me…feeling all ambitious and stuff??? I’m still wanting to conquer the world. I get this way every December and January – I wish (and hope) for it to continue until all.the.things. are checked off my to-do list!!
