a simple diy :: wood slice necklace

One of the first diffuser necklaces I made was this DIY Wood Slice Necklace.  It is super easy to make and I love the simplicity of the design.  A dear friend of mine wanted me to start designing diffuser jewelry for her doTERRA Essential Oils.  She is actually the same friend that got me started using oils.  I wanted to try something natural that would hold the oils for days at a time, and be aesthetically appealing.  This just happens to be my most popular design for diffuser jewelry because it appeals to all ages.  The size of the wood slice can vary some are as small as a nickle and others are bigger than a silver dollar.

Step 1 :: First you have to cut your wood slices to the size you prefer.  I used a miter saw, but you could use a ban saw.  Then bake them in the oven at 250 degrees for 60 minutes.

Step 2::  Next you will drill a hole so that your cording or leather can fit through the hole doubled in thickness. {If you do not want to drill a hole through your wood slice you can drill a hole to the top and add a eyelet instead}.

Step 3 ::  Once you have your hole drilled then you can add your leather cord by bringing the ends through the front of your necklace and lace through the loop at the end.  Tighten the cord so that it will not move and add your bead.  Make sure to double knot the end of the leather by bringing both ends together and tie them together as one cord.  Now you can add your stamp to the center of the wood slice.  I chose to paint my lettering and sealed it so that it couldn’t wear off.
