wacky november holidays… to see you through to the holiday season

November is officially here and I’m looking forward to all the celebrating that run from Thanksgiving until the end of the year. With an 8 year old who would like to simply skip ahead to celebrating Christmas we will be using these fun wacky holidays to help hold off on her Christmas fever until after Thanksgiving has come and gone. I’ve even thrown in one holiday to enjoy that weekend after Thanksgiving while you’re still neck deep in leftovers and family togetherness.

Book lovers unite! The month of November kicks off with a day I can really appreciate…

November 1 National Authors' Day on the SIMPLE moms

This day is for only 2% of the population, including my 8 year old who would like to skip ahead to Christmas already. If you’re part of the other 98% maybe challenge your family to name a favorite redhead at dinner – Lucille Ball, Shaun White, and Carmen Sandiego are just a few of the many famous redheads!

November 5 National Love Your Red Hair Day on the SIMPLE moms

I love holidays that make planning dinner EXTREMELY easy.

November 12 National Pizza With The Works Except Anchioves Day on the SIMPLE moms

With Thanksgiving just over a week later this holiday couldn’t fall at a better time. Not only will you feel productive, you’ll have room for your turkey and all those delicious leftovers!

November 15 National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day on The SIMPLE Moms

According to Dictionary.com absurdity is “the quality or state of being ridiculous or wildly unreasonable.” If feel like this holiday was made for toddlers… or those of us who must live with them.

November 20 National Absurdity Day on the SIMPLE moms

When we have large family gatherings there is no game my kids enjoy more than Talent Show and the more ridiculous your talent the better. I have a set of cousins who can quickly and accurately recite the alphabet backwards, an aunt who does a trick with a water glass and some mild contortion that always makes the kids’ jaws drop, and two of my children like to join me in showing off our double jointed toes. However you are uniquely talented this is your day to shine!

November 24 Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day on the SIMPLE moms

I hope these fun and wacky days help tide your family over until the larger celebrations of Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve arrive!
