“Disney Book Group sent me a copy to check out and is partnering with me for a giveaway!”
With Halloween being last week, I thought it quite fitting that I’d share a book with mystery and evil being the subject matter. Well, I mean, not too scary or anything. We received a copy of the book and my 10-year old scooped it up right away.
The first thing she said to me was, it’s about Maleficent! Apparently she didn’t read the cover very well as it stated that, but that grabbed her attention as soon as she put two and two together. The book actually takes place between the two films, Maleficient and Maleficient: Mistress of Evil, but it’s original and NOT tied to any movie.
Here’s a synopsis…
From New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes a captivating original novel set between Disney’s Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in which newly-queened Aurora struggles to be the best leader to both the humans and Fair Folk under her reign; her beau, Prince Phillip, longs to get to know Aurora and her kingdom better; and Maleficent has trouble letting go of the past.
With winter months here in Michigan starting, we tend to end many of our days and early evenings with books in our hands as they can’t be playing outside as much as normal. Unfortunately, my daughter will be finishing this one up well before the snow sticks to the ground. It has her attention fully! It is ideally written for ages 8-12 years old.
