It’s turned to my least favorite season here in the mid-west… snow and cold (more commonly known as winter). The official season of sore throats and sniffles has motivated me to have a stash of tea on hand to help everyone in my family stay healthy and/or feel better whenever possible this season.
Until I got some great “Teasplashing” recipes from Tetley Tea though, I hadn’t even considered trying to get any antioxidant-rich green or black tea into my kids because I knew they would not like the flavor. After trying the tasty Green Apple Tea Teasplashing recipe (see below) from Tetley Tea I’ve even gotten my 4-year-old to drink green tea and like it!
Green Apple Tea
- 1 Tetley Decaffeinated Green Tea bag
- 4 oz. of boiling water
- 4 oz. 100% apple juice
Place the tag bag in an 8 oz. cup. Add boiling water and allow tea to steep for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag and add juice. Makes one 8 oz. serving.
I’m pretty sure that if I had used any of the other types of Green Tea I’ve ever tried, even this Teasplashing recipe would not have been accepted because most green teas are usually so strong and bitter. Thankfully the Tetley Green Tea – Decaffeinated tea is mild, smooth, and it blended perfectly with the fruit juice.
Yep. I said DECAFFEINATED green tea! (Because who wants to pump caffeine into an already active kid?)
You can also try this great Black & Blue Pom Pom Tea recipe from Tetley. I have made this an official “Grown Up” tea at our house because the dark juice + my crazy children + white carpet = sure disaster. If you’re children are a bit less guaranteed to create such an epic mess this should be another hit, especially since you can use Tetley’s Classic Black – Decaffeinated tea to make this yummy recipe.
Black & Blue Pom Pom Tea
- 1 Tetley Decaffeinated Black Tea bag
- 4 oz. of boiling water
- 2 oz. Blueberry juice
- 2 oz. Pomegranate juice
Place the tag bag in an 8 oz. cup. Add boiling water and allow tea to steep for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag and add juices. Makes one 8 oz. serving.
Who would have thought? Kid friendly, antioxidant rich, decaffeinated (YIPPEE!!!), and delicious tea. We will be keeping Tetley decaffeinated teas on our tea shelf from now on.

December 14, 2011 at 10:44 amI love Tetley tea’s British Blend!! It is SO delicious. After discovering it, I no longer ask my mum to bring tea back from Northern Ireland. I’ll have to try out some of their other teas.
