wild kratts :: predator power

My oldest just loves learning about animals: what they eat, where they live, why they behave in a certain way, etc.  The youngest just likes animals that roar so she can mimic along.  Knowing this it isn’t at all surprising that Wild Kratts :: Predator Power is a hit with both the little professor and baby predator.

The Wild Kratts are real-life zoologists, brothers Chris and Martin Kratt.  In each episode the Kratt brothers are transformed into the animated versions of themselves.   My girls really enjoy seeing the combination of live action to educate and animation to entertain (and educate too).

Full of interesting facts and age-appropriate scientific concepts, the Wild Kratts :: Predator Power is a fun way for kids to learn about animals.  Each episode on this DVD features a different predator from the animal kingdom.  While these creatures easily have the ability to intimidate young children, the Wild Kratts introduced each animal in a way that even my overly-dramatic 4-year-old was enthralled and not scared.

The DVD includes the following episodes ::

  • Stuck on Sharks – Martin and Chris are on a mission to uncover the secret life of the mysterious great White Shark and soon learn that the giant predator of the sea actually has lots of challenges to contend with.
  • Mimic in the Grass – While exploring why some animals mimic the looks of others, Martin and Chris encounter a cheetah cub and its mom.  But before they know it, the mom is ‘cat-napped’ so it’s up to the Wild Kratts team to spring into action on a rescue mission.
  • Little Howler – Chris and Martin are unpacking from an adventure and are surprised when a Wolf pup pops out of their bags.  They have no idea where the little guy came from and must retrace their steps in order to return him back to his pack.
  • Raptor Roundup – Martin and Chris challenge themselves to ID as many hawks, eagles, owls, falcons and vultures as they can.  But they soon realize that an evil villain has been capturing them all!  They’ll have to use every thing they know about classification and birds of prey to round up the raptors and return them to where they belong – living free and in the wild!

While exploring all types of terrain and learning about very different animals, the Kratt brothers and their team help empower kids to do their part to protect endangered animals.  A new-found favorite that had to be watched 3 times consecutively when it was first viewed the Wild Kratts :: Predator Power DVD gets… my SIMPLE star rating :: 5 out of 5
