Not a day goes by in our home that we don’t read to the kids. We are by no means an “unplugged” family and there are video games daily as well, but every day before nap time and bedtime there is time taken to snuggle in our reading chair and enjoy a good book. As a mom I love the quiet time with the kids and I remember my own mom reading to me and my brothers every night. I’d encourage you to include a reading time in your daily madness as well.
Our kids are 5 and 3 years old now. Ambition’s Not An Awful Word is recommended for ages 6+, but Jack loved it at age 5 and Annabelle liked it too because it has fantastic graphics to keep her entertained. The story is clever, witty, and humorous for me as the reader too. Lots of educational facts and names are slipped into the story as well.
The story is about an imaginative boy named Zack that is trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up. He takes a trip around the world in this rhyming tale, but gets discouraged by others along the way about his lofty dreams. However, when he gets home his mother reassures him that he can dream big.
