It’s almost time for the 2nd annual SIMPLE Cloth Diaper Event! Are you as excited as we are?! We hope so!
Starting on October 15th, SIMPLE Moms Jessica and Jaime will be sharing some of their favorite cloth diaper brands {plus some awesome giveaways} and Real Food Maven Renee will share recipes for all natural diaper rash cream and organic antibacterial foaming hand soap to wash your hands after changing all of those diapers! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:
Why choose cloth diapers? There are so many reasons!
Cloth diapers are soft against baby’s skin. Imagine what it would feel like to have to wear disposable menstrual pads 24 hours a day for 2 years. Personally, we think that’s pretty uncomfortable (and is a reason most women use tampons or mama cloth) – the material chafes and irritates that sensitive skin! That’s what disposable diapers feel like to a child, they just don’t know the difference. Cloth diapers are soft and much more comfortable against the skin. Cloth diapers are also free of the many chemicals contained in disposable diapers.
Cloth diapers are eco-friendly because they are used again and again, not entering a landfill until they have been completely worn out and are nothing but rags. Disposable diapers are estimated to take anywhere from 250-500 years to decompose, and it is estimated that 27.4 billion disposable diapers are consumed every year in the U.S.
Cloth diapers are WAY more cost effective than disposables. The average baby uses about 6,000 diapers from birth to potty training and the average cost of a disposable diaper is 25¢, for a total of $1500. Cloth diapers can be as inexpensive as about $12 each but are about $20 on average, and a typical stash is 12-24 cloth diapers (unless you’re obsessed with the cute patterns available and purchase more than that!). Even when you figure in laundry costs, cloth diapering for approximately 2 years can be as inexpensive as about $500, plus they can be used for multiple children for even greater savings!
Cloth diapers are SOOO cute! Have you seen the unbelievable variety of colors and patterns available? Oh my, it’s a rainbow of fun and fluffy tushies!
Now stay tuned with theSIMPLEmoms starting October 15th to learn more about how to get your fluff on with cloth diapers!
