time to color those eggs with paas and heinz :: review

107-001_P2Part2_HEINZ_vinegar_4Okay, before everyone starts reading this and becomes impressed by my initiative to get our Easter eggs colored this year I’m going to share a mothering fail and admit that we never got around to decorating our eggs last year. In fact, if I dig through my boxes upstairs I’m sure I’d find the kit from PAAS that we just never got a chance to use (maybe we should have had 4th of July Eggs that year…)

PAAS_logoThis year I’m waaayyy ahead of the game and have already decorated 3 dozen eggs with my girls thanks to PAAS and Heinz Vinegar! While we were already familiar with both PAAS and Heinz Vinegar, but even though we’ve never dyed Easter eggs with anything but PAAS and I never run out of the GIANT jugs of Heinz Vinegar from our local warehouse store I learned some new things this year about both companies.

For example, besides for adding Heinz Vinegar to the PAAS dying cups to create brighter colors you can add it to the water when cooking the eggs to make them easier to peel and to help prevent cracked eggs? Just add 2 Tbsp. of Heinz Distilled White Vinegar per quart of water before placing the eggs in the pot.  Who knew?

Easter egg decorating fun with PAAS and Heinz Vinegar!PAAS also had some surprises up their sleeve in the form of 7 new decorating kits.  After using our PAAS Color Cups to dye most of our eggs we added texture with the Touch of Velvet kit. The Deggorating Doodles kit was another hit, but I can honestly say that their hands down favorite was the Volcano Eggslosion (which really is super duper cool).

Make_A_Wish_logoWe’ve even been using the PAAS/Heinz Egg Decorator App to decorate virtual eggs to share with family and friends while helping Make-A-Wish! Either download the iPad app by searching out “PAAS/Heinz” in the iTunes App Store or use the desktop version found here.  Through March 31, 2013 when you decorate and share a virtual egg Heinz and PAAS will donate $1  (up to $25,000) to Make-A-Wish!

They looked like they had a ball 🙂 I’m saving the egg decorator app for later this morning when we need a break from toys to play with 🙂 Thanks!

Hope you had fun decorating eggs Renee! My sister got a couple emails this morning from my girls, they each decorated her a virtual egg.
