The heat of the past few weeks here in Michigan has finally started to get to me. Even my three and five year-olds have said to me a number of times, “Mommy, it’s too hot out here. Can we go inside?” You can’t argue with that. It is inherent child nature to want to be outside. So we went inside. While I plied them with water (hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!) and snacks, we settled in for a bit to cool down with a few fun DVDs from Lionsgate Home Entertainment and HIT Entertainment.

I knew my five year-old daughter would love Angelina Ballerina: Mousical Medleys. Not only does she love dancing and singing, she considers herself to be a ballerina in training. She walks on her toes when no one is looking. She pirouettes around the living room. She dons her tutus and imagines herself onstage. As you can imagine, this 5-episode DVD was right up her alley. She loved the music and the dancing, and truth be told, so did her little brother. (Don’t tell his dad!!)

With musicals, dance-a-thons, parades and more, there’s always a reason for Angelina to enjoy the spotlight! See what happens when the mouselings’ plans to welcome the stars of Mousical the Musical are ruined…or are they? Next up was Barney: Imagine with Barney. I thought for sure this would hold their baby sister’s attention more than it did theirs. My sweet Madison is almost a year old and the big purple dinosaur is pretty much just her scene. And she absolutely loved it. She perched herself right underneath the TV and watched with her head thrown back so she could see Barney in all his glory. But what did surprise me that my two older kids loved this DVD too, and have asked for it a number of times since our initial viewing. My three year-old even heard one of the songs in another setting and said, “Mommy, Barney sings that!!” Too cute.
