My mom instilled a love for music in me at a young age, so when I became a mother, it was my desire to pass on this love to my son, but I don’t want him to like just “any” music. I want him to listen to music that is uplifting and God honoring. If you really listen to the lyrics of music in today’s culture, you will find most of it is inappropriate for children. I am reminded of the children’s song “Oh be careful little ears what you hear!”
I am very thankful for music that is uplifting and encouraging! New Life Worship released a new CD on August 13, 2013 called Strong God from Integrity Music. This CD has 10 new songs performed live that are meant to encourage the body of Christ to stand up and proclaim that God alone is strong.
The lyrics are powerful and ones that I would encourage my son to sing! What goes in WILL come out… I know I wouldn’t mind hearing my son singing lyrics such as:
Love Divine
“Be exalted oh God
Be exalted oh God
Death defied, the grave denied
This is love divine
Saints and angels rejoice
You oh God our living Hope
You’re alive, You’re alive
This is love divine”
I love that the music is sung with a heart for God.
In fact, New Life Church in Colorado Springs used this music to help uplift the families who suffered loss during one of the most destructive fires in Colorado’s history. The church used “Strong God” as a reminder that in the midst of trouble and despair, God is great!

August 25, 2013 at 2:40 amSo true about filling our kids heads with good music lyrics. Phillipians 4:8 is convicting to me when I turn on music for my kids. Thanks for the review Shanda!
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
