We didn’t have the chance to see this movie in the theaters so when it showed up on our doorsteps, I was thrilled! As you already know, we love DVD’s in our house. It’s just nice to have additional “options” for things to watch when we do.
Johnny Depp is Rango. And it’s quite funny. Here is a synopsis of the show:
A sheltered chameleon, living as an ordinary family pet, faces a major identity crisis. After all, how high can you aim when your whole purpose in life is to blend in? When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt — a lawless outpost populated by the desert’s most wily and whimsical creatures — the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new role to the hilt — until, in a blaze of action-packed situations and encounters with outrageous characters, Rango starts to become the hero he once only pretended to be.
Now here is my honest opinion. While I enjoyed watching it, there were a few “questionable” moments for my 5 year old. It is rated PG and not G, so I did sit and watch it with her – like I typically do with all new shows and/or movies. There was some questionable language, violence (while it may have kind of gone over her head), smoking, guns… But in saying all this, you have to realize that it is a PG rating versus a G rating, which will add a little “more” to the movie choice.
So, if your kids are older and you don’t mind a little more than a “G” rating, this movie is for you. If you are like me, with kids 5 and under, you may want to pick it up for you and your spouse to watch, but I would wait to let the young ones watch it 🙂 This movie is VERY funny!!
