Let’s do a virtual show of hands for anyone who personally enjoys the popular “Don’t Let the Pigeon…” series by Mo Willems {and yes, my hand is raised}. Okay now, let’s include those hands for the kids as well…
Yep, around here reading Mo Willems stories over and over and over never has bothered me. My just reading the stories never fails to get a giggle from the kids, so it is no surprise that the new Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! DVD from Scholastic Storybook Treasures and New Kideo had them laughing right along.
Even better than just experiencing a cartoon version of one of our favorite storybook characters? The author, Mo Willems, is one of the narrator voices on the DVD! It’s like having one of your favorite books read to you by the author – how awesome is that?!?
Okay, as with many of the Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVDs Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! has multiple episodes/stories on the DVD. In this case there are 3 cartoon stories all based on classic books by Mo Willems that in total run about 27 minutes (plus extras).
Besides for the obvious title story of “Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!” you will also find “Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Diversion” and “Edwina, the Dinosaur Who Didn’t Know She Was Extinct.”
Side note for a fun fact about the “Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Diversion” episode :: the story features the voices of Mo, Cher and Trixie Willems!
These are all fun and entertaining stories with some great underlying messages just right for the recommended ages 2-8 audience.
