As we begin another school year with my kiddos I’m finding that my girls are very interested in all things scientific. While I’m super excited about this interest (YAY!) I wasn’t quite sure how to encourage them with learning all things scientific in an age appropriate manner.
Be still my beating heart when I discovered The Young Scientists Club! The Young Scientists Club was founded in 1999 to engage boys and girls around the world in An Educational Science Adventure that Lasts a Lifetime. They put a lot of thought from some very smart and scientific minds (as well as parents!) into designing their products to encourage kids on a lifetime of scientific learning.
My girls were very excited to try out The Young Scientists, The Magic School Bus Weather Lab to learn more about various types of weather with some hands on experiments! The Magic School Bus Weather Lab comes with 28 full color double-sided index cards that guide you along in the various included experiments. The cards also include interesting facts and some guided experiment explanations to help parents make the most of the experiments with their budding scientists.
The kit itself comes in a Magic School Bus shaped box that includes all the materials you’ll need (besides for some basic things you’ll find at home like tape and water) to conduct your experiments. The bus shaped box is pretty sturdy, so it is a great place to keep all the unused materials as you work your way through the various experiments.
The Young Scientists Club offers a variety or kits in different areas of scientific study to help engage young minds in learning science. They also offer a couple subscription services where you receive a complete kit of materials to conduct an experiment either once or twice a month depending on your preferences. You can learn more about the details for, and pricing of, the TYSC Monthly Subscriptions or The Magic School Bus Science Club on their corresponding product pages.
My girls were fascinated by making their very own compass and we can’t step out our door without checking the latest wind direction and temperature. The kits and/or monthly subscription service are now at the top of my list for gift ideas this upcoming holiday season! (Hint, Hint Grandma!)
