I love the bond that breastfeeding creates for a mother and her child. I know from personal experience the joys (and pains) of breastfeeding. My son has been breastfed since he was born. When I tried to introduce a bottle to him at 4 weeks old, he absolutely refused to take it. Eight months later he is finally starting to take select bottles (2 to be exact), one of them being the BARE Air-Free bottle from Bittylab.
The latch my son makes while feeding from this bottle mimics the latch he has when breastfeeding (lips pursed and all!). The “Perfe-latch” nipple extends when he sucks on it, which is claimed to mimic a mother’s breast while breastfeeding.
Another thing that I like about this bottle is the fact that you are able to express the air out of the bottle using the “air-plug.” As my son drinks, the air plug moves up the bottle continuing that air free feeding.
While my son enjoys using this bottle, there is a downside to it. The air-plug can be easily damaged without proper care (improperly assembled, crushed in the drying rack, etc). When assembling the bottle, you need to make sure that the bottom ring is removed from the bottle before trying to insert the air-plug. If you don’t, it can become damaged and make the bottle unusable. See THIS video for instructions on how to assemble the bottle.
I made a SIMPLE at a glance pros and cons list:
- mimics breastfeeding
- air free feeding (preventing gassiness)
- bottle completely disassembles for easy cleaning
- antimicrobial
- BPA, PVC, Lead & Phthalate FREE!! Making it safe for baby, green and environmentally friendly.
- very light and easy for little hands to hold
CONS
- air-plug easily damaged
- the “Perfe-latch” nipple can be hard to latch onto at first because the nipple is “sunken”, but once the latch is made it works well!
If you are breastfeeding like I am and having a hard time finding a bottle that will work for your little one (believe me… I went through MANY!) then give BARE Air-Free by Bittylab a try!

October 28, 2013 at 11:11 amA new way to get my baby to take a bottle would be helpful. These bottles look really cool. I have been checking back periodically to see when they would be manufactured. I stay home most of the time, but I would like my sitters (usually my mom) to have an easier time of it. I would also like her dad to be able to feed her easier while I am out running errands.
