smencils :: gourmet scented pencils

Remember scented markers? I used to love those as a kid. The markers that smelled like their colors (I remember that blue was blueberry and black was black licorice). Anyway, this trip of nostalgia is what got me so excited when the opportunity to try Smencils came along.

Smencils are gourmet scented pencils!  Made of 100% recycled newspapers, these fun writing utensils come in 10 delicious flavors and are available as Colored Smencils with colored cores or Original Smencils with #2 pencil lead in them.

Each Smencil is individually packaged in a corn-based biodegradable freshness tube with an easily removable stopper to help keep your Smencils smelling as delicious as they can for as long as possible.  We’ve stored our Smencils in their freshness tubes since we first got them a month and a half ago and they still smell as strongly as they did when they first arrived.

When we first got our Smencils I made the mistake of leaving them in an easily seen spot. I quickly found out how much my daughter enjoyed the yummy scents when I discovered her scribbling as fast as she could to color some papers on my desk with her new pencils.  When I showed her that the coloring she had done smelled as good as the pencils themselves she was ecstatic!

Even though Smencils are made out of recycled newspaper and have been soaked in the various gourmet liquid scents, they are allowed to dry and harden.  This means that the Smencils are able to be sharpened in the same manner as a regular pencil. (Especially important if you’re sending your kid to school with them.)
