We have *long* winters here in the Midwest. So about halfway through our cold season, we have outgrown pajamas and need a fresh round to get us through til May!
I am a little late to the party in learning about fire retardants (PBDE’s) in children’s sleepwear. I was shocked to learn about how toxic these chemicals are seeping into our children’s skin and even being absorbed as they breathe. So this fall I made a decision to make the girls’ sleepwear organic only. I look at it this way: kids spend at least half of their 24 hour day in pajamas. My girls sleep a good 10-12 hours per night – that is a LOT of time! I don’t want fire retardants on their skin for 12 hours out of every day.
So I stumbled upon Snug Organics in my search to switch over our jammie wear and I am just as pleased as can be!
One of the things I love about winter jammies is the soft, cozy children’s fleece! The Snug Organics organic cotton sherpa sleeper is even softer than fleece pajamas. Warm, but breathable, my girls have been sleeping soundly and comfortably. Our nights get very cold here, and my big girls’ room is on the end of the house, making it a little chillier than the rest of the house. They have been warm enough and my one daughter that is always “hot” wasn’t too hot.
I love that the toddler sizes don’t have “feet” in them. My big girls especially loathe wearing *anything* on their feet – even socks come flying off the second they get inside the door! The footless sleeper also allows for growth without growing out of the pajamas. The zippers are easy enough to manipulate which helps with any night time potty breaks.
The sleepers run very true to size. I ended up getting a size bigger for all 3 girls since the sleepers are snugly fitted, conforming to fire safety laws for sleepwear without fire retardants. There is extra stretchy “give” on the side panels for comfort and growth. My girls run about the middle of the road on growth charts and they fit one size bigger with plenty of room to grow.
I am completely in love with the simple design and color palates, and love the peace of mind I have knowing my girls are sleeping half their day away in safe pajamas.
TAKE ADVANTAGE of the 30% off sale on the sherpa sleepers that is running right NOW! I would stock up for next year too!
