“Squeeze pouches” are all the rage right now with kids. So much so, that even popular brands such as Dole and Mott’s are hopping on the band wagon and offering their products in these revolutionary food pouches. I’ll be honest, I love them… I really do! But what I do NOT love is the fact that you pay almost DOUBLE the price for this convenience over buying baby food in a traditional glass jar or even applesauce from a jar.
I try to feed my son as healthily as I possibly can. He will have the rest of his life to eat cake, cookies, chips and pop, so I want to create in him a desire/love for real food! Because of this, I make his food here at home.
With the Yummi Pouch, not only am I able to save a little “moo-la” but I can also choose what my son is eating! These handy little refillable pouches are da-BOMB! I can not express enough how excited I am about these!
The Yummi Pouch seals a lot like a zip-lok bag, but I would say that the seal is MUCH better than that! You simply open the pouch up and fill it with whatever you desire. Sometimes I just fill it with a little cinnamon applesauce and other times is a “concotion” of real foods such as organic yogurt, ginger, apple and carrot (I know this sounds gross, but my son loved it!). I have yet to have one of these pouches open after I have filled it. My son has squeezed them as hard as he can to get every last drop out of them and they STILL have not opened. Oh and did I mention they come in different sizes?!? 🙂
Cleaning is also a breeze! I was amazed at how easily I was able to get all the left over food out of the pouch. Here’s my technique, though you can use your own! I simply rinsed them with hot water and then using a bottle brush, “brushed” the food out. Then I squeeze some soapy water through the spout and everything looks like new! I have reused these so many times now and have yet to have any residue left over.
