Okay, okay…I’ll say it. I thought all the hype about essential oils was just that: hype. I thought that there was no way that it actually worked and that a lot of those “oil people” were just having a little placebo effect going on. But about a month ago I was able to connect with Tricia at
TheNourish.com and try a few doTerra essential oils. I tend to wake up with a stuffy nose every morning, so she sent me an oil blend called Breathe. I rub onto my palms and inhale deeply a few times the the congestion is gone. When the kids are driving my absolutely insane, I take a few drops of Balance and rub it into the soles of my feet. I also do it to the children, and it genuinely seems like it helps us all calm down and get back into our groove. The Wild Orange? I could bathe in it. It is the best smelling of them all. Just like with the Breathe blend, I rub it into my palms and take a big breath. A mental pick-me-up and a calming effect all at once. But the one that sold me on the oils, the one that really blew me away was the Melaleuca.
For her entire life, my 3 year old has had a patch of scalp that just would not clear up. It started as “cradle cap” and got better everywhere but one spot. But in the last few months it had gotten worse and worse and spread to other parts of her scalp. Her hair was even beginning to thin out. I’ve tried so many different products – over the counter, prescription, old wives tale concoctions – and nothing had worked. Until now. I tried to take a picture of it for you, but sitting still isn’t her forte. (She is three, after all). I took the oil and applied it directly to her scalp and rubbed it in gently. It didn’t sting or burn or seem to bother her at all. Initially her roots looked a little greasy, but by morning you couldn’t tell. After two applications on two consecutive days (yes, two!) the flaky, scaly scalp was
completely gone. Not a trace of it. It’s been a little over a month and it is still clear. Y’all. That’s huge!
One of the best things about this whole process was learning more about essential oils and how to use them. I was able to chat directly with Tricia but she also offers FREE webinars that are full of great information. Each webinar is 45 minutes long and you can register for one right now. She has several coming up this week. Just click on a day and time that works for you and it’ll take you to the registration page:
In addition to these free webinars, one SIMPLE reader will also be receiving a 3 pack of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint essential oils and a CD that gives you the info you need to know how to use them effectively. If you’re already an essential oils fan, you’ll be excited to add a few more bottles to your arsenal. But if you aren’t a believer, go ahead and enter. What have you got to lose? I think you’ll be as impressed as I was.
