My kids love crafts so when this book came in, I handed it to my daughter and said, “Have fun!” She’s been crafting since then. I stopped her to ask her a few questions about the book and she said she’d like to do a little interview. So…here’s an 8 year old’s review of the Duct Tape Mania book.
Mommy: Okay…so you just had a chance to play around with some duct tape. Did you have fun?
Emmie: Yeah. I had a lot of fun.
Mommy: Where’d you get your ideas on what to make?
Emmie: From the Duct Tape Mania book.
Mommy: And what did you make?
Emmie: I made a pencil that was wrapped around with tape and I had something at the end made of tape.
Mommy: What was at the end?
Emmie: It looked like a flower.
Mommy: What made it look like a flower?
Emmie: Well, when you cut it…it makes the tape look like flower petals and the eraser looks like the center of the flower.
Mommy: Did you make anything else?
Emmie: I made a bracelet.
Mommy: A bracelet? How?
Emmie: I made a braid with the tape.
Mommy: Wasn’t that a sticky mess?
Emmie{laughing}: Sort of.
Mommy: Sorta? How’d you braid it if it was a big sticky mess?
Emmie: I rolled it up so that it’d be like a string.
Mommy: So you rolled up three pieces of “string”, right?
Emmie: Yes.
Mommy: And then what?
Emmie: I braided it like a regular braid.
Mommy: And then you wrapped it around your arm and I helped you do what?
Emmie: Tape it together.
Mommy: Were either of those crafts hard?
Emmie: Nope.
Mommy: Are any crafts in the book hard?
Emmie: The ones that have the green smiley faces mean that they’re easier. And the ones with the red faces mean, like, they’re harder.
Mommy: Do you think you’ll try some harder ones later?
Emmie: Yes.
Mommy: So would you tell other kids to buy this book?
Emmie: Yeah.
Mommy: Would you give it to a friend for his or her birthday?
Emmie: Yeah.
Mommy: Gramama’s brithday is this week. Think we should give a copy of this book to her?
Emmie{grinning}: Maybe not, but we could make something from the book for her!
