As much as I love the idea of a perfectly groomed lawn, lush green grass, vibrantly blooming flowers, and a picture perfect little yellow house on Main Street, it’s just not realistic in this season of my life. I can barely groom our 3 kids and keep them in clothes that aren’t 2 sizes too small because they are growing like the weeds in my yard. I must also mention that I live in California and we have a serious drought. How serious? We have controlled burns which leaves us with black hills, everything else is brown, and we have very strict watering rules in place. Our kids can’t even run through the sprinklers and all the city splash parks have had the water shut off the past 2 summers. 🙁
Moving on from my pity party. Fantastic flowers are just not happening for me right now. I love pretty flowers and it nags at me that I can’t keep up the yard, but even if I did have the time…no rain makes it even more difficult to keep foliage alive. Enough about my dry and thirsty state. I have found a solution to my woes! I’m faking fantastic looking flower beds with www.silkplantsdirect.com.
I have the 12 pack of 17.5″ geraniums tucked in flower pots around our yard and in flower beds welcoming guests down our front walk. If you make it too perfect looking they will stand out as fake. I have very few plants that I’ve been able to keep alive and I’ve mixed in my outdoor silk plants. I’m very pleased with how it looks and even more thrilled at the maintenance required of me to keep them alive.
I found Silk Plants Direct to be a very easy to navigate site. I liked shopping by color or variety. They have a huge selection and good descriptions of their items. I would strongly encourage you to simplify your life a bit and throw in some pops of color to you outdoor landscape. I was poking around their indoor options as well and found lots of pretty flowers I wanted. If you are too busy for flowers, a black thumb, or a fellow drought stricken Californian, I would highly recommend Silk Flowers Direct.
I have an offer just for you, our faithful readers… Use code BLOGGER10 for 10% off products except custom options.

July 10, 2015 at 11:39 pmOh this is such a great option for those hard to grow areas outside! I never really thought of putting fake outside…but that would be perfect for a few areas we find hard to grow!

June 16, 2015 at 9:00 pmWe have a number of little old ladies in our neighborshod who use these, and they look amazingly good! The only danger is they tend to fade a bit in the New Orleans sun.
