It’s summer and summer vacations are happening all across the nation. From small day trips to the beach, to summer weddings, to vacations away from home where you pack up everything but the kitchen sink. We are doing it all this summer and loving every second of it. Even though we have traveled quite a few times already, there have been a few consistent things we have included. Yes, the children are at the top of the list. But, when you vacation, do you bring your work-out gear as well? I admit, when summer time comes, I do get in a rut. I find myself being VERY inconsistent. My husband and I just had a conversation about this last night in the car. Yet, I still bring my workout gear with me when we travel. Am I the only one who does this? LOL! High hopes I suppose. Good hopes!
My husband and I have figured out a way to get in the workouts when we travels. Since we have four little ones with us, it’s not a workout time together, which isn’t fun! I enjoy working out with my hubby. But, getting to enjoy some alone time too is so beneficial. Ok, so I wanted to share it with you. It’s been adapted multiple ways, but we each do this whether we are traveling together or separate. Here is the one we are using right now.
Next, on to snacking when traveling. Time away from home means planning time before hand. I just returned from New York City for an Ambassador trip with another brand and wanted to share with you what I brought. I get so frustrated at the airport when all you can find in the terminal are snacks filled with junk. Nothing healthy in sight. This time around I grabbed ahead of time. I brought some Jack Links Chicken Jerky. You might be thinking, chicken? YES! Chicken Jerky is now in the Jack Links line up with the Turkey Jerky. It is NEW and comes packaged so the portability is there to bring it with you wherever you go. It is lean, white mean chicken breast…which is 98% fat free. Only has 80 calories per serving and has 11g of protein as well. That packs a good punch, doesn’t it?
Sometimes you just need something MORE than crackers or fruit. Am I right? And while cheese is typically my quick go to for something filling in a rush, jerky is a close second.
What tips do you have for me that you pack in your road trip bags? What do YOU love about Jack Links products too? Did you know about their NEW Chicken Jerky? Talk to me!

August 14, 2015 at 10:53 amI’m not much of a traveler, so I’d be the one needing trips. My husband is a beef jerky addict, and I would love to introduce him to turkey jerkey. I did not realize Jack Links made it.

August 11, 2015 at 4:02 pmI always pack individual bags of snacks for my kids…they will fight if it’s only one bag they have to share! I always pack bottled water too so at least they can “rinse” their mouth in the car from eating all these snacks.

August 10, 2015 at 10:46 amI love jerky while on the road. My tip is to to not only take healthy snacks but takes fun things to keep you occupied so you’re not always looking at all the yummy places you’re passing by. (If you’re not driving)

August 9, 2015 at 9:36 amChicken jerky? YES! I’m not huge on red meat, so this sounds awesome to me! I guess like everyone has said, it’s all about the snacks. I like to do multiple baggies of different snacks, then let the kids choose which ones they want. I also like listening to books on CD in the car. Makes me feel less guilty than having them watch dvds.

August 4, 2015 at 11:05 amMy best tip is to use a filtered water bottle while traveling. That way you can use water from a tap. It will taste fine and you won’t be using evil disposable water bottles!

August 3, 2015 at 1:43 pmGosh it’s been so long since I’ve been on a road trip I don’t know if I can add anything. But my friend always takes bands (you know those huge rubber bands) to exercise with. I haven’t tried this jerky yet but would love to.

August 3, 2015 at 1:22 pmMy favorite thing about jerky is that it won’t spoil or melt. You can throw some in your gym bag or even in your pocket while on a ride, and it is ready to eat without making a mess.

August 3, 2015 at 11:50 pmSo true!

August 3, 2015 at 12:34 pmI don’t go on road trips, but if I am going to be in the car for an extended length whether just e or with the kids, I make sure to pack something easy to nibble on. I may pack a protein shake for myself. It’s been a while since I had Jack Links, but I like jerky and would love to try chicken flavor!

August 3, 2015 at 11:51 amThe question should be what don’t I pack in my road trip bags. We go on road trips with our daughter, SIL and 2 granddaughters. I make small ziplock bags with Honey Nut Cheerios, raisins, M&M’s, mixed nuts and plain popcorn for snacks. Also, I make a first aid kit in a ziplock bag with Band-Aids, Neosporin, Children’s & Adult’s Tylenol packets, OFF! Deep Woods Towelettes, Pepto Bismol Chewables travel size packets, etc.
I have not tried Jack Links products yet. They sound perfect to take on road trips.

August 3, 2015 at 12:41 amMy sister actually had a good system for her vacation this year that I had never thought of. She packed each day of clothes for each child in a separate ziplock gallon sized bag, squeezed all the air out and closed them. She was able to fit 5-7 days of clothes plus swim suits and PJs for 3 kids in one suitcase the size of a carry on!
Shannon
August 3, 2015 at 9:02 amOh my – that IS a great idea! I will have to remember that one. I bet it’s so organized!
