vacations can make you happier #traveltips

People who take vacations are happier don’t you think?  The time away for reality, to not think about the everyday life and just to get away and relax makes you feel so much better. I think everyone should get away for a period of time just to relax.  One of the most important things a hard-working person can do to help reduce stress, recharge and re-energize is to plan a vacation. When planning a vacation, it’s recommended to plan a trip to a far-away location, and to do as much planning ahead of time as possible. When people know they’re about to do something meaningful, enjoyable and fun, and have time to spend with people they love, their stress level is often reduced.

I know that when I am excited about taking our vacation every year and planning it, it is a little less stressful because I have something to look forward to.  We try to take a vacation at least once a year.  We all love just getting away as a family and spending that time together.  No hustle of everyday life to distract you from enjoying the beach and the family around you.

Studies have been done in Sweden showing that happiness is increased and health is improved when a person has a vacation coming up to an exciting and interesting destination to look forward to. This helps take away some of the stress from the daily grind. Worker’s thoughts become focused on planning a fun excursion instead of always mulling over the mundane daily tasks and issues that face them at work.

Planning a vacation is at least half of the fun, isn’t it?  The simple act of planning a vacation leads to weeks of happiness ahead of the actual start of the vacation. In research studies done by quality of life organizations, it was found that planning a vacation can boost a person’s mood for up to eight weeks ahead of their vacation. Anticipation gives workers a good feeling. Knowing that there will be an escape from work, even though it’s only temporary, gives them that extra boost in their mood and a more positive outlook on life.

In the United States, vacations are often treated as a luxury instead of a necessity. In actuality, vacations can be necessary to improve the mental and even physical health of workers. Planning a special trip takes worker’s minds off of work situations and issues and allows them to focus on the good time to come on their vacation.

Today, vacationers can find a wealth of helpful vacation planning and destination information on the Internet. When planning a trip to a Bluegreen resorts vacation destination, for example, people can find a wealth of helpful information in places like the Bluegreen Resorts Facebook page.

The best things to research ahead of time when planning a vacation are:

  • Helpful articles on interesting vacation destinations
  • Stories about other people’s experiences they had while visiting the destination you have in mind
  • Photos from your dream destination which can help to give you ideas of what to expect while on your trip
  • Weather information for the place you’re about to visit can be helpful to know what to expect and what items to pack
  • Tips, maps and tricks for navigating the area you plan to visit
  • Helpful information on resorts and hotels you’ll be staying in while traveling
  • Customs and traditions of your destination, especially if you are going overseas

As you plan your fascinating, fun vacation, you might be surprised to find your stress levels decreasing and the fatigue lifting. You might even find yourself counting the days until you embark on your new life adventure. Once you return, you’ll have photographs and memories of good times, the new and interesting places you’ve seen, and people you’ve met. You may also have the feeling that you’ve broadened your horizons. Vacations help increase happiness.

Happiness is….That feeling of driving up to the resort entrance, knowing your vacation is about to begin!

You are so right! We hadn’t taken a vacation in 5 years, so when we did we just started going towards the mountains and didn’t stop till we were in Colorado. I have never felt so calm and relaxed. I know it’s hard for some people just like us and just couldn’t get away from our busy schedules. But all the packing and planning is so worth it. I also recommend it for relaxation, you will appreciate it when you finally get away.

It is great to take a vacation every year if you can! We did growing up and now so many memories. However, I think there are quite a few ppl who really can’t afford it, but if you can, go for it!

I totally agree with that Rosie. We don’t take huge vacations either…but we save all we can just to do the one every year. =)

Taking a vacation does sound wonderful. But I bet it has been at least 10 years since I have taken a vacation of any real consequence. I agree that here in the US it’s a luxury. But I also think that’s it’s because the majority of people simply can’t afford them. However even a weekend getaway can be wonderful.
