One of the things that we have limited during the school year compared to summer is “screen time.” Do you limit this at your house? We have limited it to they can only use it on the weekends and not during the school week. There was a lot of resistance in the beginning but we stuck to it and they do not even ask for it now.
Over 75% of kids have access to a “smart” mobile device at home — causing an untold amount of parental worry about what constitutes the “right” amount of screentime.
Every now and then when it is appropriate and they have been good, I will let them do some educational learning on their tablets. My daughter is in Young 5s and getting her access to as much knowledge early on is key for me. They learn and absorb so much at this young age, I don’t want to hinder her learning. There are so many ways for children to learn. Hands on, listening and watching.
I found a must have educational app to get kids ready for Pre-K or Kindergarten. It is called PlayKids. It is along the same lines as other educational apps. PlayKids is the #1 downloaded children’s app that’s loved by 3 million families across the world. It is a truely a kids safe app.
My daughter has been playing this app for about a month now. We got a free subscription for 3 months to try it out. There is a 7 day trial you can download and use as well, just to see if it something your child would like. I guarantee they will like it. I love how colorful and fun it looks. Definately, is something kids will love at first site.
There are so many things on this app for kids to learn. There is books for reading, coloring, shapes, ABC’s, videos to watch and games. My daughters favorite is the coloring and music. It is geared toward 5 years and under, but I have seen my 8 year old taking a glance at it and checking it out.
I do love the fact that you can look at the progress and history of what your child does on the app. Helps you see what they have been doing and learning.
I just love that there is so much for your child to do in this one app. It is perfect for the pre-K and kindergarten stages. I really think it has helped her with her letters and reading, yes I know, reading letters and small words. It is amazing what their little minds can retain.
PlayKids is a really great app to get your kids interested in learning more.
Do you use an app with your kids? Have you tried PlayKids before?

November 7, 2015 at 5:20 pmI really don’t track it. It really just depends on the day and how we both feel. It doesn’t help that we have both been sick recently. when we are sick, we tend to just sit on the couch under a blanket and watch TV or he plays with his iPad while I read.
