Isn’t it crazy to think that there is a day dedicated to being kind? Wouldn’t you just think that people would do this…without thinking about it? Well, as life has become SO incredibly busy for many, I think kindness has taken the backseat. If you are a parent, in my opinion, this isn’t an option. We are raising up the next generation, and honestly, sometimes it scares me seeing what the world can be like.
World Kindness Day is on November 13th, and I hope this year, it evokes a feeling in people that doesn’t go away. I hope this stays with people all year long, until it’s National Kindness Day again!
So, how can we keep this in front of our kids? How can we teach this? There are books, and there are words, and there are shows. The list goes on and on. If you search Pinterest, I’m sure you will find a million creative ways to teach it too. Today, I’m sharing a simple, easily accessible one with you too!
Have you seen Clangers, on Sprout Network at 7:00 pm EST? It’s a show about doing good. Being kind. They spread kindness throughout their Blue Planet. Simple concept, yah? Perfect!
You are probably saying, great! I now have an awesome show, but what about the real world? A few things that we teach our girls, and that are family does (many of which I’m sure you all do as well), are…
- Being kind.
- Being and doing good.
- Treating others how you want to be treated.
- Helping when people are in need.
- Smile and make eye contact.
- Treat others with respect, especially adults.
- Random acts of kindness, genuine, out of their hearts.
- Donating to children that have a need, that don’t have clothing and toys.
- Showing appreciation and thanks.
- Teamwork and helping one another.
- Helping a neighbor by shoveling their drive or raking their leaves.
- Picking up trash when we see it.
- Helping someone that is in need at a grocery store.
- Oh, there’s just so much WE ALL CAN DO!!
So, let’s all go and sing kumbaya with our families and help them remember to be kind in all they do. And….let US remember to be kind too!
