The smell of a brand new Bible. There is just something about opening the fresh, crisp pages and inhaling the aroma of freshly printed words. The Word of God is something that I hold very dearly and it excites me to delve into the Word fresh and new. As I read through my Bible, I like to underline all the verses that speak to me. Because there are so many great verses, my Bible is underlined immensely. Starting over with a clean Bible is like reading the Word for the first time again… no cheater notes!
When I learned of the ESV Journaling Bible from Crossway, I eagerly awaited it’s arrival! With the wide margins, this Bible is perfect for adding your thoughts as you read the verses on each page. I know that I have some verses that I hold dear to my heart as they spoke to me during different times in my life… I look forward to using this Bible and having the room to journal my thoughts about different things I am going through and how the verses I just read apply to my life at that moment.
I like the hard bound style of this Bible. If a Bible isn’t leather, I would prefer it to be hard bound. My initial thought to the overall aesthetics of this Bible is that it seemed a little small for writing in… but after using the Bible to journal every night, the size of it has not bothered me as I assumed.
What I love about the Bible is that the Word of God is new and relevant every time you read it! The same verse can have a totally different perspective depending on what you are going through in your life. This year, I will be using my ESV Journaling Bible to allow the Spirit of God to show me where I need to improve, to encourage me during times of struggle, and to bring me closer to God.
I highly recommend picking up the ESV Journaling Bible and starting on a path that will lead you closer to God!

November 13, 2015 at 11:08 amI don’t have room to journal in my Bible, but like you, I have verses underlined everywhere. This Bible would be so helpful because I could add little notes to the margins and when I go back to re-read verses or chapters in various Bible studies, I would have my previous notes available. This looks like a wonderful Bible!
