There isn’t a day that goes by that my living room isn’t transformed into my son’s personal train yard! He loves playing with his wooden train tracks and trains and imagines a whole train world around him! Of course most days the dogs and I end up encircled in his track creations!!

Seeing how much my son enjoys his trains and how they stretch his imagination daily, I was thrilled to learn about a new product that expands his wooden track world called Tobo Tracks from Tobo Toys.

I first learned about Tobo Tracks when they brought their project to Kickstarter and was delighted when their project got fully funded so they could bring Tobo Tracks to retail. So, what exactly are Tobo Tracks? This quick video does a great job explaining them. Take a peak:

We’ve had a few weeks to play with them ourselves and I can tell you that they are very cool! Here are just a few things that make Tobo Tracks a must-have this Christmas…

Kids will love them!
Obviously! They totally expand the world they already love — trains, cars, tracks! With Tobo Tracks they can create new ways their trains or cars move around. Create turnaround spots and more!

Compatibility or Stand Alone
I’m a huge fan of toy systems that “add-on” to the systems we already have and love. That means new ways to play with the toys my kids have and no need to purchase a whole new system. Let’s face it, my house does not have the room for a whole new train system! Instead Tobo Tracks works with wooden train/car tracks, like Thomas™, and with LEGO®, which makes Tobo Tracks the perfect expansion toy!

But Tobo Tracks are also a great “stand alone” toy. If you don’t yet have wooden tracks or LEGOs, you can simply use the Tobo Tracks as their own track system! Choose from the Tobo Track 15 – Builder Pack or the Tobo Track 22 – Mega Pack. The Tobo Track 22 – Mega Pack comes complete with 20 track pieces, two adapters (for expanding to those other track systems), 2 wooden toy cars, and stickers to add to your tracks.

Combining fun & learning
As a mom, I love sneaking in a little extra learning time when the kids are playing! And Tobo Tracks were created with this in mind! Each connection point on the Tobo Tracks has a number. As your child connects the tracks or cruises their car or train along the tracks, you can use those numbers to create simple math problems or number games: Add or subtract the two numbers at the track junction before the train can cross! Connect the tracks so the odd or even numbers match up! Or connect the tracks so they have the same numbers. The games are endless! And so is the learning!

Quality!
Because Tobo Tracks will be one of those toys that sticks around your house for a while, it’s important that they are a quality made product. And they are! Made completely of wood — actually, they are made from scrap wood so they are being eco-friendly! This was hard for me to believe because the tracks feel like a hard plastic. But they are just 100% real wood. No resins, no chemicals, no paints; they are just using a really cool way to create these tracks from just wood.
