With that being said, co-sleeping with my now 3 month old was a bit scary to me knowing what could happen. It was more on my radar and we were more aware of her while sleeping. I was on a mission to be able to still co-sleep with her and it be safe.
For a while, when she first came home, she slept in the swing and I slept on the couch. She was a pretty fussy baby so we didn’t want it to wake the other kiddos. This worked for a while, with a couple other alternating ideas but I wanted to get a routine down and be consistent with what we were doing.
I searched and searched for something we could lay in our bed between us to keep her confined and safe. One of them we decided to buy that was extremely large and metal – we decided to return because it just wasn’t workable at all. Feeling discouraged, I was going to post about it, to get suggestions on what to use and I was looking around on Instagram and came across an account with a cool looking product, I had to know more about.
This product, I knew would save my world with a newborn. I just had to have it. It was going to be the answer to everything. I had pretty high hopes for this product and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint.
With a cute name of DockaTot™, it had to work.
DockATot™ is a multi-functional lounging, playing, chilling, resting and snuggling dock you can take anywhere. Created with love in Sweden with a strict emphasis on design and comfort, there is simply nothing else like it on the market that allows mothers to feed, soothe, and bond with baby.
DockATot™ was willing to give me a discount on the deluxe version. I was willing to purchase this with the high hopes it was going to help. And I was right. This product is simply amazing. I can’t even tell you how wonderful it has been to use this.
We first started out with the DockATot™ in our bed for a week. Typically, before using the product, I would lay her down and she would awake almost immediately. With laying her down in the DockATot™, she felt secure and safe as if I was holding her. It surrounds her so she still is all snuggled up. Once she was okay with being in it for a week, I transferred it to her crib. I honestly didn’t think this was going to work in the crib. With all the open space around the crib, I thought for sure she would wake. Thankfully, I was wrong and she now sleeps in her crib using the DockATot™. I am truly amazed by this. While I didn’t plan on putting her in the crib this early, I still need my baby time, it is nice to be able to put her in there from time to time.
We still love co-sleeping with her and DockATot makes it so much better and without worry. It is truly a lifesaver!
DockATot™ is definitely worth the investment and will also have many good uses down the road. They have fun patterns along with larger sizes. There is also a convenient handle on the side and top of the DockATot to carry it easily. With the bottom of it being able to open up, you can use it for quite a while. So many great features. We are so happy that we can get good sleep and still be safe.
So, my answer on how to get your newborn to sleep on their own is….a DockATot™!
Do you co-sleep with your children? Do you have ways of keeping your baby safe while doing it? Tell me about it…what do you do?

March 9, 2016 at 4:24 amWe definitely co sleep. I also found tha dockatot via instagram. I was hesitant to buy it because of the price. It has been one of the best investments yet! My son slepy in his dockatot (in my bed) for two weeks before we transitioned him into his bassinet with the dockatot. Must admit, I miss having him in bed next to me! Especially during night feedings, however, worth every penny!

March 9, 2016 at 11:18 amLinda, I couldn’t agree more. It was pricey BUT totally worth it in my opinion. I couldn’t be without it now. It is a must have for us. The nights I put her in the crib, I do miss her too. I am so glad you were able to snag one of these and it works so well for you. I think every mom MUST know about DockATot!!

March 8, 2016 at 2:20 pmWe LOVE co-sleeping and have done it successfully with all four of our children. Planning on it with baby #5 as well. I love this idea though, especially for those nights you feel especially exhausted. Looks adorable too!
