It’s Monday morning and as we all head back to the joys of work and school I have a little joy to share with you today. Did you know that today is National Cereal Day? Oh yes, basically a free pass to feed everyone in your family cereal for any and every meal of the day! You can all thank me later for making your dinner plans supremely easy. 😉
To help spread the word about this fun day our friends at General Mills sent me a box of stuff to help my family celebrate #nationalcerealday. Seeing as how one of my family’s love languages is cereal this is a legitimate reason for a party (seriously, my husband brought each of our girls a mylar balloon, a small candy, and a box of General Mills cereal for Valentine’s Day last month).
With four different cereal eaters in our house we have four very different cereal eating styles…
My youngest daughter will gladly graze on dry cereal all day long if I allowed it. She usually has a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast with milk. If I kept Cocoa Puffs in the house she would devour the box in less than a day.
Our eldest daughter is not a big fan of milk so dry cereal is always her choice. She LOVES her Kix and Trix and with the new versions that are free of artificial coloring or dyes I am totally okay with either choice.
My husband’s cereal style has always confused and confounded me. He picks two cereals that don’t seem to go together at all (such as Trix and Cheerios) and makes a big bowl of it. As one of those, “foods shouldn’t touch on the plate” people this is extremely strange to me, but he thoroughly enjoys it.
My cereal eating choices are wide and eclectic. Honey Nut Cheerios, Kix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Corn Chex… oh I love them all. Separately. A bowl, a spoon, some ice cold milk, and my cereal of choice and I’m happily set for my meal. My ultimate favorite though is Golden Grahams and I will confess, this favorite is the one exception to my cereal mixing aversion. Golden Grahams + Cocoa Puffs = Pure Awesomeness. Basically it’s like s’mores in a bowl.
So, with National Cereal Day to be celebrated what is your cereal eating style?
