I love carbs! They are the hardest thing for me to try to cut back on when I am trying to lose a little extra weight. Pastas, breads, and just about any other carb you can think of are my favorites. I’ve learned to find ways to lower my carb intake rather than get rid of them all together, and I’ve also found ways to substitute healthier options while still being able to enjoy some of my favorites.
I’ve shared Modern Table Meals with you before, but I was excited to try some of their new meal kits, as well as their lentil pastas that can be used with my own favorite recipes! Since I was initially introduced to them and ordered them online, I’ve been noticing them in more grocery stores which makes them even more convenient to use.
The two new meal kits are Homestyle Mac and Cheese and Pesto! We love them both, but the macaroni and cheese was a big hit with our whole family. I added a few additional vegetables and some meat to make it a hearty meal, but it would have been delicious by itself too!
I have so many pasta recipes that we love, and now that Modern Table Meals has come out with three bean pastas, I can replace regular noodles and still enjoy my favorites! The taste is great, and I love that the lentil penne pasta has 15 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber per serving! I’ve found a healthier way to eat my carbs!
Here’s the recipe for one of my favorite creamy pasta sauces! It works perfect with veggies, meat, and the lentil penne pasta from Modern Table Meals!
Creamy Cheese Sauce
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup milk
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 shredded parmesan
1 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Cut cream cheese into cubes and melt over medium low heat until melted. Whisk in milk until creamy. Add parmesan, garlic, salt, and pepper, and stir until cheese it melted. Pour over cooked pasta, add your favorite meats and veggies and serve. My favorites are broccoli, chicken, and bacon!
Enjoy!

April 12, 2016 at 10:27 pmWow, what a great product! I have a picky toddler, and this pasta would be a great way to get some extra protein in him. Love that the lentil rotini has 24g of protein per serving!
