I saw this meme recently and it gave me a giggle. I feel a bit like this beach babe….

I’ll not hurt your eyes with my winter white skin and I’ll share mostly photos from the Cabana Life website in this post. I am in love with their wide selection of stylish swimwear. Spring break  and then summer will be here before you know it. That means it’s time to get a new swimsuit…or 2 or 3. I love swimwear!

Many of you already know this, but I had a scare with melanoma skin cancer in 2013. For a while, the sun was ruined for me, but I’ve found a way to still enjoy the summer. It’s all about proper swimwear that will protect me from those cancer rays that beam down from above. Being safe in the sun is important for everyone, it only takes one bad sunburn to be at risk of skin cancer.

While I want to be sun-smart, I don’t want to look like the strange covered up lady on the beach. I’m really happy that there are companies like Cabana Life that have stylish swimwear to keep my family safe in the sun. I will be sporting the NANTUCKET SOUND ZIPPER RASHGUARD in 2017. The rashguard is a perfect fit. I ordered a medium (I’m 5 ft 8) and it was the right length. It’s slightly fitted at the waist, but not clingy in the spare tire zone. 🙂 The print is flattering for my shape as well. I am a bit of a pear shape so I did order a large swim skirt to be safe. It fits well since I’m on the higher end of my winter hibernation weight. My grandma always wore a swim skirt, but I think it’s stylish for younger people now too. I have skin cancer scars and imperfections to hide. I feel very comfortable sporting a swim skirt, especially since it’s so cute with my rashguard.

There was a surprise feature on the rashguard that I didn’t notice when I ordered it. The sleeves have thumb holes if you want to protect your hands. Last summer we went to Lake Michigan and even though  I wore sunscreen and a rashguard, my neck and hands were fried at the end of the day. The higher zip up neckline and the option to cover my hands with the thumb holes to keep the sleeves over my hands would have helped me avoid that burn. Brilliant feature!

While this post is all about the women’s line of swimwear. Cabana Life has adorable swimwear options for the whole family. I have my eye on a matching tanking and cover up set for my daughter. She still thinks it’s cool to dress like her mom. I have to take advantage of that while it lasts. I do wish that quality swimwear wasn’t so expensive, but you can’t put a price tag on keeping your skin safe in the sun. I budget to get at least one new quality piece of swimwear each season. I justify the cost when I wear it for a few years and enjoy having at least one new swimsuit a season.

      Oh, good feedback. I have found that my rashguard’s aren’t too hot if I’m wet, but sometimes in the beating sun it is quite warm. I don’t typically get my swim cover-up’s wet so that doesn’t solve that problem! Maybe next season you’ll have your request granted by Cabana Life. 🙂 They should name it the Tracy Cover-up. 🙂
