Halloween is tomorrow and both my kids are so excited to get all dressed up in their costumes! Neither of them realize that tomorrow is a day that they will probably receive more candy than they need to eat, but they are excited to wear their costumes and get to see what everyone else is dressed up like!
I love Halloween! I personally don’t love to get dressed up, but I’ve always loved the excitement for kids around getting to decide what they want to be and then either finding that or coming up with a way to make the costume come together to be their favorite character or superhero!
So I know we will all have an excess of candy in our homes over the next few months from Halloween! Our kids will either come home with more than the could possibly eat, or we will have leftovers from what we bought to hand out to the trick-or-treaters who come to our house!
There’s so many amazing ideas to do with all those leftover treats, but here’s a recipe I love that you can bake and share and use up some of those candy bars.
Candy Bar Blondie Bars
Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 TBL water
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp baking soda
1 cup favorite candies chopped small
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 8×8 pan or pie pan. Over low heat melt butter in a medium sauce pan. Add brown sugar and stir over heat for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let cool. Add egg, water, and vanilla. Mix well. Add dry ingredients. Pour into prepared pan. Sprinkle top with candy bars. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Serve warm or cooled.
We love this recipe and it’s a great way to have fun with your kids’ favorite candy bars! Happy Halloween!
