Our family visited the Grand Rapids, Michigan location a few weekends ago to get an inside look at what the Kroc Center is all about. We walked out exhausted after 4 hours of great family time with a Family Pool and Play pass in hand. (More on that in a minute!)
We’ll be going back often this year because our kids LOVED the Kroc Center!
Here’s some of what they offer:
- An aquatic center that features a 28-foot water slide, 17 person hot tub, and a “zero-depth” water area with a super fun play structure perfect for little ones. The aquatic center is staffed with American Red Cross trained lifeguards. Many swim activities are offered from open swim and lessons to water fitness classes.
- The fitness center at the Kroc is filled with cardio workout machines, many featuring personal screens for watching your favorite tv show while you workout. There is also a weight room and indoor track for walking laps or getting that Couch 2 5k going before summer 😉
- Almost as exciting as the aquatic center for our kids, the climbing wall and gym area were both a huge hit! The climbing wall area has a great 10-foot smaller wall for beginners and younger kids (and their moms…) who are not quite ready for the 26-foot rock wall. But if you’re ready for a challenge, the large wall features 4 different climbing routes and an auto-belay system for getting your feet safely back on the ground.
Beyond these areas that I’ve mentioned, the Kroc Center offers an extensive list of events and activities for all ages. Membership options are very flexible for children, teens, single adults, and families. You can also purchase day passes as you go if you’re not quite ready to commit to a year-long membership.
As we were getting ready to head home, we decided to invest in a Family Pool and Play Pass which will allow our family to enjoy the main areas of the Kroc Center every weekend for the next year! This option was the perfect fit for our family and our budget, but be sure to look into the many options available at your local Kroc Center.
With the spring and summer months approaching quickly, here are a few other notable bits of information shared by the Grand Rapids Kroc Center’s marketing director:
- Six-week youth programs are available, including swim lessons, ballet, and gymnastics. Also various sports leagues and AYSO soccer.
- Camp Kroc Day Camp allows kids to enjoy all aspects of the Kroc Center at an affordable rate during the summer months. At $150 per week per child, you’ll have five full days of daycare including lunch, snacks, activities, and field trips for your kiddo.
- Spring Break is an excellent time to visit the Kroc Center with their extended open swim hours, guest presentations, bounce house, and more!
If you’re looking for a fun activity in the next few weeks to try out the Kroc Center and are local to the Grand Rapids area, you should consider signing up for the Mother/Son Date Night on March 3rd from 4-6pm! You can visit the Kroc Center website for more information and details, and take a virtual tour of the beautiful facilities.
