Couple months down the road, I was introduced to Cybex and was able to get my hands on one to share with you. This beauty is the Cybex Cloud Q rear-facing infant car seat. Let’s call it luxury travel redefined. The Cloud Q is the latest innovative result of ongoing research. The rear-facing infant carrier builds and improves on the strong tradition of previous CYBEX premium infant car seats, with a ground-breaking, ergonomic design offering a full-recline position outside of the car. We will talk more about this in a bit. But, the result is a perfect symbiosis of phenomenal protection and a new kind of travel system for outstanding safety inside and outside of the car. Are you excited to hear more?
There is a lot of information to share about this car seat, so I am going to share as much as I can. There are several features that I really love about this car seat and it’s safety features. Thanks to a ground-breaking ergonomic design, the Cloud Q rear-facing infant car seat easily converts to a full-recline position outside of the car. This innovative seat is complemented by a telescopic linear side-impact protection system, full-recline angle also inside the car, and an XXL canopy offering sun protection with UVP50+. The 11-position height-adjustable headrest of the infant car seat simultaneously changes the harness length and sitting angle. As a result, the infant car seat grows with the child. That’s a lot of info all summed up in a little paragraph.
Let me tell you about MY favorite features of the Cloud Q ::
- Full-recline position – This position is really a lifesaver when you have a baby that wakes up every time you pick her up from sleeping. To be able to pull a lever and recline the car seat while she is still sleeping is pretty exciting. Yes, this actually lays your baby down while still in the car seat. That way your baby can finish his/her nap.
- Side impact protection system – This is a system I have not seen on any other car seats. There are telescoping linear bars to take the impact if ever in a car accident. They come right out the side of the car seat.
- XXL canopy – I love the fact that I can cover most of her up, so no one can touch or see her. Not to mention offering sun protection. While not in use, this canopy folds down to where you don’t even know it’s there. Pretty slick, right?
You know how when your trying to get the straps out of the way when you are putting your baby in the car seat? They keep falling back behind baby. Well, on this Cybex seat there are little slots on each side where the strap fits perfect so you can get them out of the way and put baby in the seat. It’s pretty sweet! The pull to tighten the straps down seems a bit stiff, so definitely be sure to check several times you have it tight enough.
The car seat does come with a fantastic newborn insert that will work perfectly for those tiny baby’s coming home from the hospital. I also love that the head rest can move up and down to adjust to your baby. It has extensive padding on either side to make it comfortable and safe.
I simply can not forget about the important part, the base, the part that attaches to the seat of your car. This is a bit different from your normal base. There are two features that help make it very secure in your car. While it does have the latch system to hook to, it also has a tightener that makes it even more secure and level. Plus, it also has a load legs attached to the base. Check out the pictures to see what I’m talking about.
While I am loving this car seat, there is one slight thing that I do need to mention, the total weight of the car seat with my daughter in it is 31 pounds, she is almost 6 months old and probably 17lbs. So, it is a bit on the heavier side to carry. This really wouldn’t detour me from getting this fantastic car seat, but it tends to get heavy if carried for a long time. I guess that’s why they have strollers, right?
This car seat is seriously like no other car seat I have ever seen. It is unique and perfect for precious little ones. Now, that you have heard all about the Cybex Cloud Q, what do you think? What is your favorite feature?
