Better Life Bags is located near Detroit, MI – specifically in Hamtramck. My home state. So that right there makes me love this company even more. Rebecca, the owner, saw a need and wanted to fill it. She hires women that have barriers to getting hired else where. She is able to employ them and in return they, I’m sure, feel much more self worth. Imagine not being able to do something for your family. Imagine what you have done today that you take for granted. Better Life Bags is giving these women a ‘better life’…and I think that’s amazing.
Want to know something else amaze-balls? I just learned about this because of this company…I don’t know why more people don’t do this, to be honest. Have you heard of microloans? Basically, it’s her giving 10% of every bag sale to a low income entrepreneur overseas. Her company started out this way and has been rockin’ along, helping people ever since. Even though things have changed in her business model, to me, her heart has only grown and has continued to impact people!
Our mission is to hire women who have various barriers to employment to make our custom leather and fabric bags. ย They are adopted into our Better Life family and given a chance to succeed in life, family, and friendship. ย
Speaking of amazing, let me share with you my Brynnda. Like I said before, she has been my sidekick this summer…along with my four littles. ๐ You may have even seen her on Instagram a time or two. ๐ One stellar feature of Better Life Bags is that you can make whatever bag look the way you want. You can start from a clean slate and add your own, personal flair. A true custom bag! When doing this, it takes a few weeks to get the item. Naturally. But, there is also a ‘Ready To Ship‘ section as well if you are impatient like me. I love browsing this for inspiration on color picks too!The cover flap holds in all my stuff and there are two exterior pockets for things too. Plus a buckle. When I’m running errands, I tend to put my phone in the bigger exterior pocket. I haven’t really used the small pocket much out of fear that things will fall out. Yet, the pocket is completely essential because it makes the bag look even more amazing! The cross body style is also an essential this summer as I’m chasing around a newly walking little that likes to get in to EVERYthing!
The Brynnda is a pretty super bag, not only from the looks, but the quality, construction and materials are top notch. At least, they appear that way. I’m no seamstress or sew-er or anything else close to crafty, so I’m strictly talking on usability and durability. A++ on all of these!!
Well, what do YOU think? What item(s) from Better Life Bags need to be in your life?

August 5, 2015 at 2:31 pmWhat a wonderful mission statement and a beautiful bag! I love this idea and though I am usually impulsive and impatient when it comes to shopping, I wouldn’t mind waiting on a bag from them.

August 5, 2015 at 2:38 amThis bag is so cute! I am really torn between small and giant bags, and this seems like a good, meet in the middle type of bag.
