I’ve always been a big talker about how thick my hair is…not really bragging, because it takes forever to dry and style…but I have said more then once, “I have enough hair for a few people.” Time to put some truth to that statement.
I’m just a few weeks away from having baby #3 and I know from experience that my hair is going to start falling out after I have the baby. I haven’t lost a hair in the past 9 months so my hair was not only long, but thicker then usual. I have always wanted to donate my hair, but was never patient enough to let it get long enough. I did some research and found that the minimum requirement to give was 8 inches for Children with Hair Loss. I thought to myself, “I can do that!” It helps that it’s for a good cause. It’s just my hair, it will grow back.
Well, my hairdresser apparently got a little scissor happy when I told her I didn’t want to lose my ability to put my hair in a pony tail, but needed 8 inches to donate. She squeaked out nearly 12 inches from my underneath section of unlayered/unhighlighted hair and my new do isn’t cut up to my ear. A win, win for all. It feels very good to know that my hair is going to help a child with hair loss.
Maybe you would consider this cause for you or your little girl? My poor Annabelle has a long ways to go before she will have 8 inches to donate, but I would like to teach her about helping others and this is a great cause. You can have your hair cut anywhere and simply mail it to CWHL.
