The first word my 6-year daughter learned to spell was her name: Reagan. Those 6 letters became a beacon, ones she could pick out anywhere. She loved seeing it printed out and was immediately interested and overjoyed any time she saw it in an unexpected context. Put Me in the Story has found a way to channel that joy into a holiday offering entitled “Santa is Coming to My House.” This instant classic takes your child’s name and folds it into the story, effortlessly making it seem as though it was written just for him or her. This adorably written story tell of Santa’s troubles finding his way to that one special house (in my case, my daughter Madison’s). It is both entertaining (my favorite part is Santa’s frustration with his Santa-nav, which of course does not help him find his way) and festive, with wonderful illustrations and plenty of references to your special little one.
Now I have three kiddos, but my oldest two would not have been able to bear it if one had a Santa book with their name in it and the other didn’t. But there is something about their baby sister having a book like this that I knew they would be okay with. So I chose my one-year old’s name for this story, knowing that her big brother and sister would still think it was super cool to see Madison’s name printed right along with Santa’s (and that the fairness fairy would be satisfied). I can’t wait to share this with them come Christmastime (this is one I felt I had to save for Madison’s first “real” Christmas…..the one where she kind of gets the magic of it all). This story is perfect for any age and I know we will be reading it for years to come!
