I am sure I have said this before, but I absolutely love products that I have played with as a child that are still around today. Barbie, Strawberry Shortcake, Holly Hobbie, and of course, My Little Pony. I still remember spending hours painstakingly brushing my ponies’ hair until it was smooth and shiny. My daughter got into the ponies when she was around 3 years old and watching her play with them was a little like watching myself 30(ish) years ago. So I was super excited to hear that Shout! Kids Factory had teamed up with Hasbro Studios to bring back some of my favorites from days of yore. We were lucky enough to receive My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas, we popped it in and snuggled up to watch it together.
Now we love the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series. But this DVD is a throw back to 2005, re-released in all of its original pony glory. The ponies all have their original look and my 6-year old daughter and I loved seeing the Christmas magic come to life in Ponyville. Her favorite part is seeing all the ponies work together to save Christmas…my favorite part is getting to snuggle up next to her and watch the joy on her face as she sees her favorite ponies in action!
My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas:
The “Here Comes Christmas Candy Cane” is an important part of Ponyville – it’s the beacon that shows jolly old Santa Claus the way to the town as he makes his holiday rounds each year. But when Minty accidentally breaks it, uh-oh! It looks like Ponyville is destined to have a bleak holiday season. Minty is determined to do anything to save Christmas for her pony friends while they, in turn, band together to try and cheer up their despondent friend. Together, they all discover that Christmas can come anyway, wrapped in the love of good friends and the oversized heart of one clumsy, minty-green Pony!
