a simple diy :: gold rush tumbler

disclaimer no giveaway
I have been wanting to try to make a tumbler for some time, but didn’t have a turner to keep the timber rotating. After watching some videos I thought I would give it a try without a turner. Counter Culture DIY sent me several products to create a tumbler. For this DIY Gold Rush Tumbler I used Gold Rush, Black Prime Time and epoxy.  All of these wonderful YouTube videos make everything look easy, but in reality practice makes perfect.  I’m sure they didn’t make a video of their first attempt at a tumbler, but I plan to share my first experience with my readers.

I really wanted to try ombré, but I think I needed to start with something easier, instead I decided to try a Gold Rush Tumbler.  This is a similar process first I painted the tumbler with black Prime Time.  I had to paint several coats, but you can see how it turned out.  Once it was dry I added a mixture of Quick Set then began adding Gold Rush.  Gold Rush is a very fine glitter as you can tell in the above picture.

As you can see I did have a little bit of problems with the process, but it could just be that I don’t have my timing down.  This is the first tumbler I have ever made so in this case I just did the above process again by adding more glitter.  Epoxy is designed to fill in all the gaps so it turned out great with a bit of patience.  I still want to add one more coat of epoxy to this tumbler to really make it shine and to give it a harder exterior.
