Use a plain background.
Before taking a picture, check the background behind your subject. Look out for trees and poles sprouting out of your subject’s head. A cluttered background will be distracting while a plain background will emphasize your subject.
Trying to focus on snapshot type photos when choosing examples. Trying to avoid items in your house that would be distracting.
I actually use the back of my quilt on my bed for this second photo…and she is in her PJs. Still a cute photo.This is actually my mom’s curtains in her sitting room. Super easy to find plain backgrounds.
