For my daughter’s eleventh birthday she wanted me to redesign her bedroom. We have yet to get her a new bed, but it’s still a great reveal. When she got sent home for being a close contact to someone infected with COVID I had to do something to separate her from her brother whom had also been sent home for being a close contact. We had already painted her room Peach Cobbler to match her beautiful mountain painting and purchased her light aqua bedspread. All I had left was to decide where all of her furniture would go.
We picked up some shelves at a yardsale and used everything else we could find around the house. The first thing we did was paint the walls this beautiful Peach Cobbler. Once it was painted she was having second thoughts about the color, but I reassured her it was going to be beautiful. She wanted to move her bed to the opposite side of the room so we did that after we centered her painting on the wall she wanted the headboard to go. Eventually she will have an antique canopy bed, but I haven’t had the energy to move it. This past January we lost a fur baby Gabby and she wanted to include a portrait painted of her on her wall. I placed the shelves where she wanted them and we accessoried by adding pictures of our family.
Since she has already been sent home once for being a close contact at school I needed to create a work area for her to do her school work. I brought down a desk from another area in the house so she could work in her bedroom and I could do my household chores, but close enough to help her. The shelving we bought at a yardsale was spray painted white to match the desk and I added all of her awards and softball pictures to encourage her on her classwork.
She recently broke the piece that was attached to her dresser holding the mirror, but we just used the original brackets to screw it to the wall. I asked my husband to help me find a stud so I could ensure the mirror wouldn’t fall and him being 6’1 it ended up being just a bit too high. Once it was hung it looked out of place so I added some eyelets to the bottom of the mirror to hang her necklaces on. We also used a biblical quote to the area under the mirror to make the area look as if it was meant to be hung that way. I added some country stars and a few more pieces to finish off her room.
What do you think of this room reveal?
