Baby gut health is important. We know this imbalance is occurring in most babies guts today, but of course, it’s hard to know about problems we can’t see from the outside. Wouldn’t it be great to have x-ray vision so we could actually see what’s happening in our baby’s gut?
Recent research shows that good gut bacteria, specifically Bifidobacterium, play a critical role in healthy immune system and metabolism development in our little ones. As new moms, I think is one thing that doctors lack in telling us from the start.
They have also realized that 9 out of 10 babies born today have exceptionally low levels of Bifidobacterium, as an unintended consequence of modern medical practices such as antibiotics and C-sections. Without protective Bifidobacterium present in the gut, bad gut bacteria grow and thrive. The overgrowth of bad bacteria is linked to short and long-term health conditions such as colic, eczema, allergies, asthma, diabetes, and obesity.
This is where Evivo comes in to aid in a healthy gut for your baby. I wanted to share a 3 question checklist to see if your baby needs additional help.
Question 1: Were you or your baby given antibiotics during pregnancy, childbirth or in the first six months after childbirth?
Although antibiotics are important for many health issues, they wipe out good bacteria in the gut. If you tested positive for Group B Strep during pregnancy, you would have been given antibiotics during your third trimester. Or, if your baby was given antibiotics shortly after birth, it would have eliminated any beneficial bacteria acquired during delivery.
I know for a fact that I was Group B Strep positive and was given antibiotics during my pregnancy. This is something I wish I would have know at that point, to help aid in my baby’s gut health at the time.
Question 2: Were you or your baby born via C-section?
The critical good bacteria was historically passed from mom to baby during the vaginal birthing process. The significant increase in C-sections over the last few generations has caused a decrease in the natural transfer of this good bacteria from mom to baby. If you or your baby were born via C-section, Bifidobacterium is likely not present.
C-sections are sometimes necessary, so we need to be prepared and get that baby’s guy healthy.
Question 3: Does your baby have diaper rash or poop more than 5x/day and is that poop loose, and watery?
We often think that it’s the norm for newborns to poop quite frequently, but that actually wasn’t the case many generations ago. If your baby poops more than 5x a day, and it’s loose and watery, that’s a clear sign that there’s more bad bacteria than good in his or her gut. Also, the more loose stools that a baby’s bottom comes into contact with, the more the skin is irritated, leading to diaper rash. Babies who have this good bacteria poop less frequently, and their poop is be better-formed, because they are able to absorb all key nutrients from their diet.
My second child had the most toxic smelling poop you could ever imagine. Something was NOT right. It was 8 years ago though when we were not up on our research as parents. Evivo would have been a great option for me to try with my little one.
If you answer “yes” to one or more of these questions, your baby most likely does not have Bifidobacterium. I recommend asking your pediatrician about Evivo, which is what I suggest to my readers when their baby seems to need gut health boost. Evivo is the first and only baby probiotic clinically proven to fully restore Bifidobacterium levels in baby’s gut and reduce bad gut bacteria by 80%. And even if you answered “no” to all of these questions, adding a baby probiotic to your infant’s diet can still improve gut health now and in the future.
What we hope we do with sharing this, is make new moms and seasoned moms more aware of what’s going on with their baby. As a parent of 3 children, I do have to say that the first 6 months of each child, you just feel clueless when it comes to knowing what to do at times.
Have you heard of Evivo? If you are expecting, I would definitely check it out.
