ain’t no hood like motherhood :: sweetees

Motherhood is really one of life’s greatest gifts. I longed for the day for motherhood to be a part of my life for so long, and now that I’m a mom I realize what a special part of life being a mother really is. While our kids are little and I know the challenges and joys will continue to grow and change as our kids grow and change, I’m enjoying the phases we are currently in!

Being a mom has taught me so much in the few short years we’ve been blessed with children. My eyes have been opened to how selfish I really can be, how I’m not really as patient as I once thought, and that I have more love for those tiny humans than I ever thought humanly possible. My mom and I are such close friends and I feel like I had come to appreciate all the time, love, and sacrifice she gave to me growing up and even now. But when we had our children, I realized that every day I will understand more and more about the incredible love she has for me and my siblings.
Another part of motherhood that I have really enjoyed is the tribe of moms I’ve come to know and learn from! We moved to a new location right before we had our children so we made a new set of friends when we moved here. While I’ve loved my friends from every stage of life, there is something so special about the friends I’ve made who are on this same journey doing our best to raise our kids to become the best adults they can be!

My little guy has been teaching me so much about enjoying the little things in life.  He is in a stage of incredible ups and downs and while emotions can change in an instant, I love his excitement about the sunrise, and his sister, and about new foods!  This sweet boy can test my patience and melt my heart over and over every day.  And our little girl!  She is a mix of sweet and sassy already, and she has shown me that it’s ok to let people know how happy something makes you or even to show how sad something makes you.  I’m a pretty even keeled person, but I’ll never have to guess how she’s feeling.
