The other day I had a lot of fun introducing my girls to Ms. Frizzle as she takes her students for some Earth science adventures on The Magic School Bus :: All About Earth.
You should have seen my 5-year-old’s jaw drop when The Magic School Bus underwent its first transformation. Complete shock and amazement with open mouth, bugged out eyes, and jumping up and down. I knew this would surely be an instant hit, and was not surprised when the rest of the day was spent being asked to watch the same episodes of The Magic School Bus over and over again.
From New Kideo’s, Scholastic Storybook Treasures series, The Magic School Bus :: All About Earth contains three episodes and a bonus episode and run approximately 78 minutes plus extras.
Here is a couple sentences for each episode from the back of the DVD case..
GONE TO SEED
Topic: Seeds
The class’s garden is going to be featured on the cover of Plant It! Magazine, but Phoebe’s garden plot is glaringly empty.
BLOWS ITS TOP
Topic: Volcanoes
To help them understand how islands are made, Ms. Frizzle presents the kids with an island that hasn’t been discovered yet!
GOES ON AIR
Topic: Air Pressure
The only contribution the kids have made to the Walkerville Space Capsule is an empty jar. “It’s not empty,” argues Keesha. “It’s filled with air!”
Now, my girls loved all three of these episodes, but their favorite was definitely the bonus episode “All Dried Up.” After watching that they decided to turn my living room into a desert with all their various stuffed animals suddenly playing the part of different desert creatures!
If you too have a little one (recommended ages 4-10) that likes to learn about about different science topics than I highly recommend taking a ride on The Magic School Bus :: All About Earth with Ms. Frizzle and her class.
