When I was at ABC Kids this year in Louisville, Kentucky, I had the privilege of meeting with some lovely ladies that I have communicated with via email for a couple years now. I was so happy to find out they were just as lovely in person as they are in email 🙂
While at the Britax booth, I pretty much had a class on just how safe their seats are. As I was being told about this, I knew that it was something I HAD to share with our readers. When you think Britax, if you think like me, you think safe. But why is it actually safe? Keep on reading…
Britax is a name we TRUST in our home. From the moment we were talking car seats, Britax has been on the forefront of the research. Let’s dive in and talk about safety for your little ones while riding in the car!! So please, grab a cup of coffee or tea and get comfy.
Below are 5 components that make this Advocate 70-G3 (shown on the right) – and their “Safety You Can See” motto. All this information can be found on the Britax website. I am condensing and bringing it over here for a thorough post. I mean, why would I try and re-write what they have already perfected?!?!
- HUGS with SafeCell Technology. HUGS (Harness Ultra-Guard System) Chest Pads with SafeCell Technology are affixed to the car seat shell to ensure proper positioning. The chest pads contain SafeCells, which are engineered structures that are designed to compress in a crash and manage energy to reduce the amount of impact forces experienced by your child.
- Side Impact Protection. All BRITAX child seats have been engineered to protect your child’s head and chest during a side impact crash. There are, however, varying degrees of side protection available based on which child seat you choose. Click HERE to head over and see what seats have what level of protection.
- Base with SafeCell Technology. Bases with SafeCell Technology feature SafeCells, an engineered structure, designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the vehicle seat in front of the child restraint. The ultimate job of a car seat is to minimize injury to your child during a crash. One way that your child may be injured during a crash is by hitting something in the vehicle, such as the back of the front vehicle seat. Incorporating technologies, such as a Base with SafeCell Technology, that lower your child’s center of gravity DURING a crash can help to minimize potential injury by counteracting the forward movement of the child.
- Energy Absorbing Versa-Tether. The BRITAX energy-absorbing Versa-Tether is a strap (a.k.a. webbing) that is attached to two points of the upper part of the child seat; there is a hook on this strap that attaches to an anchor in your vehicle. (To learn more about the LATCH system, visit our About LATCH page.) The BRITAX tether system allows you to tether your child seat in either the rear-facing or forward-facing modes. The use of a tether can reduce the distance that your child’s head moves forward (also called head excursion) by four to six inches, thereby minimizing the risk of injury during a crash.
- I found this one to be one of the coolest things. Integrated Steel Bars. Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash.
You guys…there is SO much MORE information on the Britax website. PLEASE, please, PlEaSe head over there and read more. I have linked the 5 components above to direct information pages on the Britax site. If you know of anyone, if you are experiencing or if in the future you think you will be experiencing purchasing a car seat, take your time to read this and pass it on! We have a fancy little share tool below 🙂
While this post isn’t concentrating on the Britax Registry Rewards Program – be sure to check that out. Huge deal!! 🙂
Please, take some time and do your research. And start your research with Safety You Can See. Hopefully that is where you will end too! 😉
