#aSIMPLEChristmas :: sputtens sock puppet mittens stay put–keeping little hands warm and dry

Merry Christmas from theSIMPLEmoms
sputtenslogoWinter has arrived here in Michigan.  Last weekend, we had our first real snow.  Several inches, in fact.  We spent all morning outside–making snowmen, sledding and eating apple cider snow cones.  And for the first time, my three-year-old kept his mittens on.  He didn’t pull them off, they didn’t fall off, they didn’t end up with snow on the inside, rendering them completely useless.  We had just gotten our first pair of Sputtens–sock puppet mittens that are not only adorable, but they are warm, water-resistant and they won’t fall off!

Getting toddlers and young children dressed for the snow isn’t a treat.  But it’s the worst when you finally get outside and their mittens are off.  Sputtens are designed to not only cover small hands, but to fit all the way up to the elbow.  So when they are covered with a coat, they can’t fall off.  Hands stay warm and dry.  Toddlers are happy.  Moms are happy. We put the mittens to the test in our newly-fallen snow.  Since the mittens are water-resistant but not fully waterproof, I expected my son’s hands to be wet by the time we came inside.  But they were surprisingly still dry!

Sputtens not only stay on, but kids don’t mind putting them on!  Designed to look like sock puppets, Sputtens are colorful characters.  We chose the bright green dinosaurs, Raz and Lou.  My son got a kick out of playing with the mittens before actually wearing them outside!  There are also bears, kittens, bunnies and polar bear styles.  Sputtens come in the following sizes:  small for infants ages 3-12 months, medium for toddlers ages 1-4 (pictured above on my little guy) and large for kids ages 4-10.  These would make a great stocking stuffer for young children–they double as fun and functional!
