Sleeping Bear Press logoHere I was thinking we had moved out of the board book phase in our lives and surprise! Baby #3 is on the way. Over the past couple years I had given away many of our board books but there were a few favorite authors and publishers that I had held on to. One of which is our good friends at Sleeping Bear Press.

If you are looking for some fun board book selections to add to your personal library, or maybe even to give to a friend or loved one who has (or will soon have) a little one in the board book stage here are a couple fun titles from Sleeping Bear Press.

ilovehockeyFirst up I have to share the well titled I Love Hockey book. As any hockey fan knows it is playoff season and what better time to share a book about the love of hockey than right now? The cute photos of little hockey players are accompanied by rhyming text that incorporates hockey terms and the names of a few hockey greats. I may not have shared this before but I have two hockey loving little girls and the baby brother soon to arrive will surely have heard this fun board book many times before he experiences his first hockey season as a fan.

littlebirthdayNext up I have to share a fun board book for the birthday lovers (and really, isn’t that everyone both young and old?). Little Birthday is part of the Little series of board books from Sleeping Bear Press that are all filled with themed rhyming riddles. This is a fun book for a little one who has a birthday approaching, or any kids who just loves birthday celebrations. Even my 7-year-old enjoyed sitting down on our couch and reading these rhyming riddles to herself as she guessed the answers. Not exactly a challenging read for her, but she had a lot of fun because it is BIRTHDAY themed.

What makes birthdays so sweet?
Cake and ice cream and lots of treats?
Solve these riddles and when you’re done
you’ll know why birthdays are so much fun!

A couple more great books to add to our library as we get ready for the birthday of our own little hockey lover!
