Okay, let’s have a show of hands for the parents who also use VeggieTales DVDs as stand-in Sunday School lessons on the weeks that you have to miss church. I know I’m not the only one who pops in a VeggieTales DVD for the kiddos while we watch the streaming sermon on the weeks where someone is sick, the weather is too nasty to drive, or mom slept in too long.
VeggieTales just added another great DVD to my stand-in Sunday School lineup and this time the Veggies go where no Veggie has gone before… Yep, it’s time for Veggies in Space: The Fennel Frontier.
Here’s the movie overview ::
A Lesson in The Power of Sharing! Join Captain Cuke (Larry the Cucumber) and his loyal first officer, Mr. Spork (Bob the Tomato), as they embark on an out of this world adventure to bravely travel where no Veggie has ever been. The entire USS Applepies crew takes on Luntar the Looter, a power stealing space pirate, but they’re in for a big surprise when they find out what’s motivating him!
As with any new VeggieTales DVD we had to have multiple back to back showings on our first viewing. My girls love those Veggies and I’m always glad to have a way to help explain important subjects to them in a manner that they can both relate. More than once I’ve found myself facing a “Well, why do we have to (or want to) do that?” question from my girls and I’ve used a VeggieTales episode as a reference for why that is important “Well, remember when Bob and Larry…”
No VeggieTales DVD would be complete without music and on the Veggies in Space: The Fennel Frontier DVD you’ll find a brand new Silly Song with Larry, “Asteroid Cowboys.” There is also music by Grammy-nominated, Christian Billboard top 10 artist, Jamie Grace. <— We LOVE Jaime Grace!
Honestly, the theme for this newest release has been perfectly timed with major case of the “mines” in my house and I’m glad to have the VeggieTales crew help me give my girls some more lessons on the importance of sharing. Sometimes when I speak nobody listens, but when Bob, Larry, and the rest of the gang have something to say I’m sure to hear it quoted (oh yes, quoted) afterwards.
