bring science to life this summer with basher science

By now all of the schools in our area have closed the books on the 2016/2017 school year {quite literally} and kids are fully embracing their Summer break. And while some weeks of our Summer break are definitely busier than others, our whole family embraces these “lazy” Summer days of “sleeping-in”, reading in the hammocks, and playing with friends.

Of course I’m very aware of the dreaded Summer Brain Drain so we are always adding in a bit of learning throughout our lazy Summer days!

One really fun tool we’re using this year are the new line of toys and books from Basher Science.

For more than 10 years Basher Science has been bringing the world of science to life for kids through their popular book series. But now, thanks to their partnership with Mattel, they have expanded their line to include science-themed character figurines, card games and playsets!

All three of my kids have been loving the Basher Science books and toys! They have always loved collecting rocks and have quite the rock collection going! Now, with the Basher Science Rocks and Minerals book, they are having a blast trying to identify the treasures in their collection.

What’s even cooler is that the Rocks and Minerals book gives so many interesting facts about each of the rocks and minerals but in a way that the kids understand them and want to keep looking up more!

The kids have also really been enjoying the Biology Card Game, one of the four card game kits from Basher Science. Again, lots of fun and interesting facts packed into each card that they are absorbing as they play the Matching game with the cards or challenge each other to the Battle game!

 

It’s also quite funny to hear the kids cheering in the other room, “My Intestines beat your Red Blood Cells!!! YES!” I really can’t wait to get the other sets of cards for them!

Of course, as my kids get to know the different characters in the Basher Science books and games, they think it’s super fun to collect the corresponding figurines. I mean, who wouldn’t love playing with an Ion, Atom and Molecule 😉

As a mom, I really love how the Basher Science products are helping to bring the very detailed world of science to life for kids in fun ways. I always feel like math and reading are kind of easy to add into our daily routines as extra bits of learning but science can be tricky.
